High Alpha Update

Friends,

My name is Matt Presley and I am the new president of the Alpha-Alpha Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha here at Butler University. It's been over two years since "This Week at Lambda Chi Alpha" has been sent out to members of the Butler community and since any updates have been posted on our website. I'm going to restart the weekly updates because I feel that it's beneficial for the faculty of Butler University and parents who may be browsing our website to be aware of our accomplishments and adventures.

Before speaking about current events, it's very important that I mention our chapter's accomplishment of winning the Grand High Alpha Award this past summer. The Grand High Alpha Award is Lambda Chi Alpha's most prestigious award and is only given to chapters that have operated with excellence in all areas over an extended period of time. Many congratulations and thanks go out to the recent alumni of Alpha-Alpha who put in a great amount of hard work and who created the vision to make this accomplishment a reality.

Our new chapter officers began the semester with a magnificent retreat at the Columbia Club in downtown Indianapolis. Over the course of two days, we planned all of our events for the entire semester and created chapter goals and expectations. It was a lot of hard work, but many thanks go out to Chapter Advisor Dr. Elgan Baker for making it possible for us to have an enjoyable retreat downtown.

As soon as the officers returned from the retreat, it was time for rush week 2012 to begin. Over the course of the past semester, our chapter made recruiting 30 men during formal rush one of our top priorities. It was a lofty goal, but with the hard work of rush chairs Elliot Johnson and Peter O'Malley, combined with the dedication of the entire chapter, we were able to recruit 31 awesome new associate members. Meeting our recruitment goal has energized the chapter and has given promise to an exciting future for Alpha-Alpha Zeta.
