High Alpha: Ben Nicholas
After a very long layoff, I am pleased to bring back weekly installments of "This Week at Lambda Chi." I will be sending this update to you every Sunday to keep you informed on upcoming chapter events, recaps of larger events on campus, and other pertinent information for you to read and enjoy!
-This upcoming Saturday, the Lambda Chi house will be hosting an etiquette dinner for its brothers. The brothers will be donning their Sunday best (which hopefully isn't too bad...), and a professional will be coming in to instruct them on issues ranging from introducing one's guest to properly holding the soup spoon. Guests and dates will begin to arrive around 6 p.m., when appetizers will be brought out. At 6:30, the group will move to the dining room for a five course meal. This is something we have done commonly in the past, and are looking forward to this Friday!
-The following day, in the Gallahue building, Lambda Chi will be hosting an all-day leadership seminar for the brothers. Besides having many Butler Lambda's in attendance, several others area chapters - and many alumni - are expected to attend. The day will start at 10 a.m., and will include lots of impactful and interesting information for the attendees. Following the program's adjournment at 5:30, all will be invited back to the chapter house for refreshments and conversation.
-Lambda Chi's 3 x 3 basketball league is up and running! The league itself was started last year, in which the brothers (and alumni living in the area) divide into eight teams and face off every Wednesday night on our basketball court beginning at 10 p.m. This was a great experience last year, and "Opening Night" last Wednesday gave us a couple highlights...and much more head-slapping and sighing (you won't see any of us in the Bracketbuster game this year, I'm afraid).
Thank you for taking the time to read through this, and feel free to email or call with any questions or other issues you may have. Hope all is well, and get ready for next week's update!
Sincerely,
Ben Nicholas
