High Alpha: Joey Frasca
Hello Everyone!
Sorry it has been a while since you all have received a "This Week at Lambda Chi" newsletter. The chapter has been very busy recently and has much to report!
First, Homecoming Week went very well for the Men of Lambda Chi Alpha. We were paired with Kappa Alpha Theta and Resco, and as a group, we placed second in the overall Homecoming Competition. We placed first in the Yell Like Hell Competition and second in the Lawn Decorations Competition. We also placed second in the Homecoming Float Competition. We are especially proud that our very own Michael Landes was crowned Homecoming King at the football game to conclude the week’s festivities.
After Homecoming Week, the chapter began to shift its focus towards some more all-campus events. The Spring Sports Spectacular Oberfest was held last Wednesday, and Lambda Chi placed third in the overall competition. Also, the Women of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha Theta co-sponsored the first annual Mr. Butler Pageant, which was held last week to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I actually represented our chapter as a contestant for this special event and was crowned Mr. Butler at the end of the week! Through the fundraising efforts of each contestant, the Mr. Butler Pageant raised a total of $5,200 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is almost enough for one wish!
The chapter has yet another very busy week ahead. We are currently preparing for the Butler University Dance Marathon Reilly for Riley event on this Thursday and the YMCA Geneva Stunts on this Saturday. Plans are also being finalized for Parent’s Weekend, which begins this Friday. We are also especially focusing on the Lambda Chi Alpha North American Food Drive (NAFD) this week. The NAFD is one of our two major philanthropic events of the year. All Lambda Chi Alpha chapters across the country participate in this event in an effort to raise millions of pounds of food for the needy across America. This annual event has arguably become the largest single-day philanthropic project sponsored by a collegiate organization.
Lastly, I would like to briefly update you all on some of the internal operations of Lambda Chi. We are currently placing a heavy emphasis on the areas of Recruitment, Fraternity Education, and Risk Management. We have held several recent programs and events in each of these areas. We held a Fraternity Education event last Monday at the chapter house to discuss our chapter’s history. We also had a Risk Management Education event this past Sunday to discuss the civil and criminal liabilities involved in hosting social events at the chapter house. This event was implemented by a prosecuting attorney from Shelby County who is also a Butler alumnus of Lambda Chi Alpha. This event was quite informative for our chapter and provided us with heightened awareness and education in the sensitive area of Risk Management.
Thank-you all for taking the time to become better informed of the happenings of Lambda Chi. We highly value your continued support for our chapter. As always, if you have any questions or concerns and would like to contact me directly, do not hesitate to do so!
Sincerely,
Joey |
