| Alpha Update |
March 2, 2009 High Alpha: Jimmy Montague Friends, I hope that everyone is in good health and enjoying the somewhat sporadic warmer weather that we have been experiencing. The last week has been a very eventful one for the men of Lambda Chi, and we have experienced many successful events over the last seven days. Our associate members have been exploring our value of Integrity over the last week and are nearing the end of their associate membership process. They are anxiously looking forward to their initiation in the weeks to come. On Friday evening, we held our annual scholarship dinner where the brother in the house invited over their favorite faculty members of the university and we recognized their contributions to our success as students at Butler University. Bruce Bigelow was voted as our houses favorite faculty member, and we also once again thanks Professor Halstead for all that he does for our academic programming. We had over 20 guest faculty and staff members, and overall the event was a success. We had a portion of our house attend the Polar Bear Plunge with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma. The two houses combined raised over $500 for the Special Olympics. We held a brotherhood event on Saturday afternoon, where we took over half of the house back to our childhood and played laser tag in Carmel for a few hours on Saturday afternoon. The event went great and everyone that went had a great time. We had seven members of our house continue or start their inner circle journeys this past weekend, and we have now had nearly 50 percent of our brotherhood begin their inner circle journeys. This has exceeded our initial goals and we are very fortunate to have such a motivated and involved group of brothers. For the upcoming week we have a fraternity education session planned for tomorrow evening where we will be bringing in a panel of young women to discuss with the chapter what women are looking for. This should be a great education session where men in the chapter are able to have a better understanding of what women are looking for in a man from the perspective of an older woman. We also have brother traveling all over the world for spring break. They are traveling to such places as Ireland, South America, Las Vegas and Mexico. I apologize for the length of the weekly update, but as I said it was a very busy weekend here at Lambda Chi. In ending I would like to personally thank and wish the best of luck to Michael Landes, as he moves to the east coast this week to pursue his growing career. He has been a pivotal member of our fraternity in helping in reach its potential over the last six years. We will miss him as an actively involved alumni, and most importantly as a brother. I hope that everyone has a great week, and I will talk to you in two weeks! Jimmy Montague
