High Alpha: Stephen J. Torbeck

Hello all!

Last week was quite a success for the chapter.  We were able to have a great deal of member involvement in all three of the major campus activities, and in fact placed first in Pi Beta Phi's Arrowspike.

This week at Lambda Chi is once again quite busy!  On Wednesday we will be hosting our annual Scholarship Dinner.  Dinner begins at 6 and should last around an hour, all are welcome to attend.  On Thursday, we will be organizing a Study Skills/Time Management Workshop that is mandatory for the chapter.  We are hoping that this seminar will aid our members in achieving our goal of a 3.3 house GPA for the fall semester.

The theme for the upcoming weekend is BROTHERHOOD and RECRUITMENT!  On Saturday our members are going to Jillian's for a few hours in the afternoon to play some video games and enjoy some appetizers with brothers.  On Sunday, we will be watching the Cincinnati Bengals/Chicago Bears Football (Go Bengals!) game in our Rec. room as well as opening our house for the Greek Open House.  At 4 we will be playing a game called Sproutball (everyone for themselves Dodgeball) on the mall in the middle of campus.

Lastly, I would like to briefly introduce all of the people who receive "This Week at Lambda Chi" and explain their connections to the chapter.  It is my honor to introduce:

Mr. Chris Carson and Mr. Jesse Nelson are recent alumni of our chapter and now volunteer their time as advisors to our Risk Manager, Vice-President, and Social Chair.

Dr. Elgan Baker is our newly appointed High Pi (alumni advisor). Dr. Baker acts as the alumni officer within the chapter. Dr. Baker also serves as a volunteer advisor focusing primarily on the President.  Dr. Baker is a graduate and Lambda Chi from Depauw University.

Mr. Kent Rollison has been a dedicated alumnus for many years now and serves both as the advisor to the treasurer and as the Treasurer of our Alumni Board.

Mr. Charlie Frick is also a Lambda Chi alumnus from Depauw University.  Mr. Frick advises both the ritualist and alumni relations officers.

Ms. Adrianne Hampton is now in her third year as the House Chef and has just begun her second year as the House Director.

Ms. Becky Druetzler is the Director of Greek Life here at Butler University.

Ms. Irene Stevens is the Dean of Student Life here at Butler University.

And last but not least, Mr. Ken Torbeck is the Director of our Parent's Association.

We look forward to seeing and hearing from each of you in the near future!

Have a wonderful week,

Steve
