High Alpha: Jimmy Montague

Friends,

I hope that I find everyone in high spirits and good health this week as the weather begins to warm.

This last week has been a great week for the men of Lambda Chi as we have had many successful events over the last week, and have many exciting events planned for the coming week. This last week we held our annual Valentine's Day dinner where men in the house invited dates over for dinner and hors d’oeuvres and we enjoyed a great meal prepared by our chefs. Friday evening after the completion of the dinner many men from the house went to the Butler Ballet performance to support a brother in the house, as well as many girlfriends of brothers in the house. The event was enjoyed by all who went, and many brothers were able to enjoy their first experience with the College of the Fine Arts.

Another great event that occurred at the house this week was a Fraternal Information session put on by our newly established "Green Team." Brothers in our house have decided to take the initiative to "go green" by placing recycling receptacles throughout the house, and we held an information session to inform brothers how to properly conserve electricity, and what containers can and cannot be recycled. The event was an overall success as we have already been very successful with the program in the first week.

This coming week is going to be another busy one for the men of the house as we have a service event with the Wheeler Mission downtown on Friday evening to help serve food to the hungry and homeless. After this event we will be having a Brotherhood dinner on Friday evening which will be highlighted with a theme of "food on a stick" where we will experience the many different kind of foods which are prepared on a stick. After dinner on Friday we will be heading to Hinkle to support our many new members as they participate in the long held tradition of Freshman Skits.

Our new members had the opportunity to experience our value of Service and Stewardship this last week as they had the experience to experience random acts of kindness in their own life throughout the last week while being on Butler's campus. This coming week they will be learning and experiencing our value of honor as they discuss and understand their own personal motivation for their adherence to their own moral code.

In the coming weeks we will have our annual Scholarship and Faculty Appreciation dinner on February 27th. The event is our annual way of showing our appreciation to the many faculty that help us enhance our daily experiences here at Butler University.

The semester continues to prove to be a strong one for the men of Lambda Chi, and I hope that everyone has a great week.

Best regards,

Jimmy Montague
